Other Tidbits
We are dedicated to the responsible enjoyment and active stewardship of the outdoors, and we encourage you to "leave no trace behind" by taking all trash with you.  Park Rangers appreciate it when racers follow the marked course and keep the trails clean.

The trails will be open to other users during the event such as hikers and mountain bikers.  Please be courteous, as you will likely encounter a few.  Please let other participants pass you if they want to get by.  It's a passing runner's job to tell the person in front that they would like to pass.

Nov. 5, New York: Biggest “Born To Run Event” Ever.

Posted on October 26, 2010 by Dan Fairbanks | 0 Comments

I am really excited about this event. There is going to be a pretty major announcement there. I have booked my flight to NY and my ticket to the event already, which is only $10. Below is the link and a quote from the website about the event:

http://chrismcdougall.com/blog/2010/10/nov-5-new-york-biggest-born-to-run-event-ever/

"On Friday, Nov. 5, we’ll be staging a TED-like theater of the mind devoted to “Reinventing Running: The Thrill is Back.” I’ll be hosting an evening of guest speakers who will re-examine our first fine art — distance running — and discuss how to re-discover the adventure without fear, spongy footwear, or false limitations. We’re modeling the night after the wildly successful TED conferences, with an added twist: the speakers will condense their talks to 15 intense, fast-moving minutes, but for a finale, all the speakers will gather on stage for a wide-open audience Q&A panel. So if you’ve ever wanted to ask Barefoot Ted face-to-face about The Urine Incident, or quiz Prof. Lieberman about chatting old bones with Alan Alda, opportunity is knocking.
Guests speakers so far include:
*Dr. Daniel Lieberman, Harvard’s “Barefoot Professor” and co-creator of the “Running Man” theory of human evolution."

The place:
NEW YORK SOCIETY FOR ETHICAL CULTURE
2 West 64 Street
New York, NY
The time: doors open at 6pm
The price: 10 bucks.
Tickets are seriously limited, so I’d suggest you move fast. You can buy them online thru Eventbrite, or in person at Paragon Sports.

A hero of the now legendary book, "Born To Run," Caballo Blanco (The White Horse of the Copper Canyon) is coming to Olympia to talk about running in the Copper Canyons, the Tarahumara (the world's 'running people') and how running can change the world (or at least the human spirit).

100% of profits will go to Caballo's NGO that benefits the Tarahumara people:www.Norawas.org
